The City of West Hollywood will host the OutLoud Sports Festival Dodgeball Tournament as part of a two-day sports festival over Labor Day Weekend which includes multiple sports at locations throughout Southern California.

Judging on skill and talent rather than identities, the organization ‘Outloud Sports’ is giving everyone a chance to play. Creating a safe space for LGBTQ+ athletes, they have found unity through its diversity, elevating each others individuality.

Humane Animal Partners, formerly Delaware Humane Association and Delaware SPCA, recently received a donation in the amount of $2,300 from [OutLoud Sports with] The Pines in Rehoboth Beach. The funds will directly support HAP animal adoption and low-cost pet retention services.

There’s a new sports club kicking off, but this is not your average athletic team. The Varsity Gay League is starting a flag football league in Los Angeles, and it has the backing of the Super Bowl champs. Kim Baldonado reports for the NBC 4 News at 4.

[The McDonald’s] spot focuses on building safe places for the LGBTQ+ community and features team members from the Varsity Gay League, the original Queer+ recreational sports league that represents over 40,000 LGBTQ+ athletes across the U.S.

For the everyday athlete, that just wants to be in the game, embracing play as an adult can feel uncomfortable, especially if you identify as an LGBTQ+ individual. But play is what the Varsity Gay League is all about, creating joy and comradery in sports with the LGBTQ+ community.

As part of our celebration of Pride Month, the Rams will be spotlighting four LA non-profits/small businesses supporting the LGBTQ+ community, aiming to raise awareness of those organizations' efforts.

The series kicks off with the Varsity Gay League, the nation's original Queer+ recreational sports leagues.

Hackner continues, “There’s a high demand for this, and we’re not servicing it. It’s extremely frustrating. I feel powerless.”

Earlier this week, Brian Troutner of the Denver Varsity Gay League was a guest on Sports Social. Varsity Gay League is the original LGBTQ+ Recreational Sports Organization and was established in 2007.

Rather, I worked to program the entire night around celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride, from pregame kickball in the outfield by the Varsity Gay League, to the ribbon boards and scoreboards proudly proclaiming it LGBT Pride Night around the stadium.

One of our colleagues here at KPCC+LAist, for instance, met friends through a book club she found on Reader's Circle. Another connected with new people after joining the Varsity Gay League, an LGBTQ+ sports organization.
